Faculty of General Medicine (MBBS)

Most Indian students who come to pursue MBBS at Chuvash State University. The duration is of 6 Years. Pre-clinical sciences is in the initial two years, para-clinical subjects comes in the 3rd and 4th year, then hospital rotations in years five and six. The final year is a completely for internship.

English language is used for teaching. That is the prominent thing which matter, because few universities in Russia technically provide English-medium programmes but they deliver major portions of content in Russian once you’re inside the classroom. But that scenario is not working over here.

The classroom has around 12 students. The faculty covers 1,100 academic staff, 140 of whom hold a Doctor of Sciences and 569 hold a candidate of Sciences. A huge portion of the faculty has worked or trained in countries like US, UK, and Canada.

Hospital access is very serious. There are thirty-nine clinical training bases and affiliated hospitals, with more than 2,500 beds across them. Rotations cover general medicine, surgery, obstetrics, and the other core disciplines.

It was started in the year 1985 with only 50 students. The programme has a five-year duration and covers the full range, i.e. dental anatomy, oral pathology, prosthetics, oral surgery, and clinical dentistry. Students work through simulation labs first, then further proceed with actual patients under supervision. The degree holds BDS equivalence.

Pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, drug formulation, and clinical pharmacy the curriculum covers the discipline properly rather than skimming it. The undergraduate and postgraduate tracks both exist. Labs are equipped for organic synthesis, pharmacognosy, and quality control. Students are doing real bench work, not simply demonstrations.

The department started in in the year 1995. The undergraduate programme is a full-time and has practical placements from the second year itself, not tacked on at the end after three years of theory. Graduates go into hospital, clinic, and community health settings.

This one works as its own faculty, and it is purely separate from general medicine. It has 06 years duration and it is focused entirely on child health neonatal care, childhood diseases, paediatric surgery. Clinical placements also happen in paediatric wards and children’s hospitals in Cheboksary, specifically, not in general hospitals where paediatrics is one ward among many.

Twenty-three residency programmes covering surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, and other specialisations. PhD and doctoral programmes in medical sciences. Fifty-six postgraduate courses running across the year. The university is part of Russia’s Priority-2030 national research programme, which connects faculty and students to funded research at a national level. For anyone considering staying beyond the MBBS, the infrastructure for that is genuinely there.

Russian language, biology, chemistry, physics. The point is not just the language it is that students who arrive able to hold a basic clinical conversation in Russian do noticeably better during hospital rotations. You are going to be standing in a ward in Cheboksary while a patient describes all the symptoms in Russian. A year of preparation for that is not optional, it is essential.
